A new kitchen in Dubai means weeks of dust, noise and a home you can't cook in, plus a bill that usually runs to a large share of the kitchen's value. Kitchen wrapping promises a new look in a day or two for a fraction of that. So is it worth it, or is it a short-term cosmetic fix? This guide gives you the honest answer, including the cases where we'd tell you to renovate instead.
What kitchen wrapping actually is
Kitchen wrapping is the application of self-adhesive architectural vinyl over your existing cabinet doors, drawer fronts, side panels, countertops and splashbacks. The film comes in wood grain, marble, stone, concrete, matte, gloss and textured finishes. Nothing is removed or rebuilt: the cabinets, hinges and layout stay exactly where they are. Only the surfaces you see change.
It is not the same as cheap peel-and-stick contact paper. Professional kitchen cabinet wrapping uses Grade A architectural film that is heated and stretched around edges and corners, so there are no visible seams on the fronts and no lifting edges.

How much does kitchen wrapping cost in Dubai?
As a guide, a full kitchen wrap in Dubai typically costs between AED 5,000 and AED 25,000. Where your kitchen falls in that range depends on:
- Size: the number of doors, drawers and panels to be wrapped
- Scope: cabinets only, or cabinets plus countertops, splashback, island and appliances
- Finish: solid colours are quicker to apply than marble or wood grain, which have to be pattern-matched
- Surface condition: chipped edges or damaged panels need repair before wrapping
Compared with a traditional kitchen renovation, wrapping typically saves up to 80% of the cost, and you don't pay for demolition, disposal or new carcasses. The quickest way to get a real number is to send a few photos of your kitchen on WhatsApp. We reply with an estimate the same day.
How long does a kitchen wrap last in Dubai's heat?
A quality wrap on a properly prepared surface lasts 5 to 10 years in real kitchens, and We Wrap's vinyl comes with a 5-year warranty. The film is chosen for Dubai's heat and humidity: it handles normal kitchen temperatures, steam and condensation, and it is scratch- and stain-resistant.
What it does not handle is direct high heat. Hot pans placed straight on a wrapped countertop, or a wrap right next to an oven door with a poor seal, will damage the film. Use trivets and keep a small gap around heat sources, and the wrap will look the same years from now.
Kitchen wrapping vs renovation vs painting
Wrapping
- Usually finished in 1 to 3 days, with most of the kitchen usable the same evening
- No dust, no paint smell, no need to move out
- Hundreds of finishes, including realistic marble and wood
- Removable, so it suits tenants and landlords
Spray painting
- Gives a factory-smooth solid colour
- Needs sanding, several coats and drying time, with fumes in the home
- Chips more easily than good vinyl, and can't do marble or wood effects
- Permanent, so it's rarely an option in rented homes
Full renovation
- Lets you change the layout, add storage and replace worn carcasses
- Takes weeks, and the kitchen is out of action the whole time
- The most expensive option by far
- Usually adds more resale value in premium villas
When kitchen wrapping is worth it
- Your cabinets are structurally sound but the colour or finish is dated
- You rent and want an upgrade you can remove at the end of the tenancy
- You're preparing a property for sale or a new tenant and need it done fast
- You want marble or wood looks without the price of the real material
- You can't live without a kitchen for several weeks
When you should renovate instead
We turn down jobs where wrapping would be the wrong fix. Renovate, or at least repair first, if:
- Cabinet doors or carcasses are swollen from water damage (common under sinks)
- Hinges, drawers or carcasses are broken, since wrapping changes the look, not the structure
- You want to change the layout, move appliances or add an island
- The existing surface is peeling or delaminating badly and can't be prepared
What the process looks like
- Send photos: share photos of your kitchen on WhatsApp at +971 52 856 6019.
- Free estimate: you get a price range within hours, with no obligation.
- Site visit: we measure, check surface condition and bring finish samples to see in your own light.
- Installation: surfaces are cleaned and prepared, then wrapped room-side, one run of cabinets at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Can you wrap high-gloss or laminate kitchen cabinets?
In most cases, yes. Smooth laminate, gloss and painted cabinets can be wrapped once they are cleaned and prepared. We check every surface during the site visit and tell you upfront if anything needs repair first.
Can I wrap my kitchen if I'm renting?
Yes. Vinyl can be removed without damaging the original surface, which is why wrapping is popular with tenants across Dubai. We still recommend telling your landlord before you start.
Can countertops and appliances be wrapped too?
Yes. Countertops, splashbacks, islands and appliances like fridges and dishwashers can all be wrapped to match the cabinets. See what our kitchen wrapping service covers.
Is it messy?
No. There's no sanding and no paint, so there's no dust and no smell. Most clients stay at home throughout.
The bottom line
If your kitchen works but looks tired, wrapping is almost always worth it. You get a new-looking kitchen for a fraction of the cost of a renovation, in days rather than weeks. If the problem is structural or you want a new layout, renovate. Not sure which applies to you? Send us a few photos and we'll tell you honestly.
