A dated TV unit, a scratched dining table or a desk that no longer suits the room is usually still perfectly sound. The problem is the surface, not the furniture. Furniture wrapping changes that surface in place, without sanding, paint fumes or a trip to the tip. Here's what can be wrapped, which finishes work in Dubai homes, what drives the cost, and when wrapping is the wrong answer.
What is furniture wrapping?
Furniture wrapping is the application of self-adhesive Grade A architectural vinyl over the existing surfaces of a piece of furniture. It is the same film used for interior wrapping in Dubai on kitchens, wardrobes and doors. The film is heated and stretched around edges and corners, so the piece keeps its shape, drawers and hardware, and only the look changes.
Because nothing is removed or rebuilt, it suits pieces you like the size and layout of but are tired of looking at.
What furniture can be wrapped?
The best candidates have smooth, solid surfaces such as MDF, laminate, veneer, painted wood or metal. In a typical Dubai apartment or villa that includes:
- Dining and coffee tables: tops, edges and simple, flat legs
- TV units and media consoles: fronts, tops and side panels
- Sideboards, chests of drawers and bedside tables: drawer fronts and carcasses
- Hard headboards: flat panel headboards, not fabric or upholstered ones
- Desks and home-office units: a quick refresh for a study or home office
- Office furniture: reception counters, meeting tables and storage units matched to brand colours
- Built-in furniture: wardrobes and cupboards (see our wardrobe and cupboard wrapping service) and kitchen islands and breakfast bars
Finishes that work in Dubai homes
We Wrap carries a wide range of Grade A architectural films, including wood grain, big marble, grey marble, solid colours, leather texture and metallic finishes, in matte and gloss. You can see the samples in person during the free consultation, which matters because colours look different in strong Dubai daylight than on a screen.
A few combinations that tend to work well:
- Marble on coffee and dining tables: the look of stone without the weight or price
- Warm wood grain on TV units and sideboards: softens a room full of white walls and tiles
- Matte black or deep solid colours on desks: no glare under lights or screens
- Matching finishes: wrap a sideboard in the same film as your kitchen or doors so the whole space feels planned
How much does furniture wrapping cost in Dubai?
Furniture comes in every size and shape, so it is quoted from photos rather than from a fixed list. The main things that affect the price are:
- Size and number of pieces: one coffee table is a very different job from a full living room
- Shape: flat panels are quicker than curves, mouldings or units with many small drawers
- Finish: marble and wood grain have to be pattern-matched across panels, which takes longer than solid colours
- Surface condition: chips, dents and peeling laminate must be repaired first so they don't show through
For context, the prices on our site for larger jobs are AED 1,000 to AED 1,300 per door for wardrobe wrapping and AED 5,000 to AED 25,000 for a full kitchen. Every project starts with a free estimate with no obligation.
Wrap, repaint or replace?
Wrap when the piece is solid and well made, you want a finish paint can't give you (marble, wood grain, leather texture), and you don't want dust or fumes in the home. Wrapping is also removable, which painting isn't.
Repaint or restore when the piece is valuable solid wood or an antique you want to keep original. A professional restorer will protect its value better than any film.
Replace when the frame is broken or wobbly, the panels are swollen, or the piece simply doesn't fit your space or storage needs any more.
When not to wrap furniture
We would rather tell you up front than wrap something that won't last. Wrapping is the wrong choice for:
- Upholstered, fabric, rattan or wicker furniture: vinyl needs a smooth, solid surface to bond to
- Water-damaged or swollen MDF: the film will follow every bump, and the damage underneath will keep getting worse
- Heavily carved or ornate pieces: deep carving can't be wrapped neatly
- Surfaces that take direct heat: vinyl copes with Dubai's ambient heat and humidity, but hot pans, hair straighteners or candles placed straight on the film will damage it
- Very cheap pieces: if a new item costs less than wrapping the old one, replacing it is the sensible option, and we'll say so
How long does wrapped furniture last?
A quality wrap on a properly prepared surface lasts 5 to 10 years in real homes, and We Wrap's Grade A vinyl comes with a 5-year warranty. To keep it looking new, clean it with a damp cloth and mild soap, avoid abrasive cleaners, and use coasters and trivets on tables. When you want a change, or you're moving out of a rented flat, the film can be removed without damaging the original surface.

Frequently asked questions
Can flat-pack furniture be wrapped?
Yes, as long as the surfaces are smooth and the panels haven't swollen. Laminate and melamine take the film well. For low-cost pieces, compare the quote with the price of a new item first.
Can my furniture match my wrapped kitchen or wardrobes?
Yes. Furniture is wrapped in the same Grade A architectural films, so a sideboard, TV unit or desk can be finished to match your kitchen cabinet wrapping in Dubai or your wrapped wardrobes. You can also combine furniture with door wrapping for one consistent finish across a room.
Is wrapped furniture heat-resistant?
The film is made for Dubai's heat and humidity, so sun-warmed rooms and air-conditioning aren't a problem. It is not designed for direct high heat, so always use trivets and coasters for hot dishes and drinks.
Is furniture wrapping suitable for tenants?
Yes. Architectural vinyl can be removed without damaging the surface underneath, so you can refresh rented or landlord-supplied furniture and return it as you found it.
